Free WORKS in the making

Microsoft is preparing for the advertising supported FREE version of MS Works.
I started using Works when i got it bundled with my Laptop. Its a basic version of MS office and has lot of limitations. The reason i had to stop using it was the file format it uses to save the files. World or Excel files can not be opened with MS Office and you need convertors to open them. But still its a good application to start with.

I won’t mind using the free version if it follows the MS office file extensions. I wish if they could include a nice light weight Photo Management tool with it like Picasa. It’ll be good for my good old (and terribly slow) Laptop.
Anyways, its a nice step in the right direction considering the online office suit wars.

Good work(s) Microsoft.

Sanju Baba sentenced..

Sanjay Dutt was moved to Pune’s Yerwada Jail Last night.
Friends said there was a huge crowd to catch a glimpse of the actor.
Sanju baba has been always my favorite actor and it was really sad to hear about his 6 year sentence. Earlier I though its very harsh but then realized that he must be treated as a criminal. He must not get the celebrity treatment.
I still wonder how come he dared to carry AK-47 assuming nobody will check him. I don’t know if he has victimized but if not ‘Bhai’ will surely do something. ‘Bhai’ must be watching the show from wherever he is and Sanju baba will be out of bars within no time just like Monica Bedi.
Nobody knows the reality as whatever perception we have has been made by the Media.

But one thing is sure, Sanju Baba’s life is a perfect recipe for a bollywood flick. All I can say now is, "Ek kahani khatam to duji shuru ho gayi mamu.."

Live Folder is here.

Microsoft released Windows Live Folders today.
Its a nice application and very useful too. It has got the Vista look and feel and is well integrated with the Windows.
If you are using Microsoft OneNote, you can save your notes directly in Live Folder.

Currently they are offering 500MB of free storage which i think is little less. But good enough if you store only documents and not the media content.

I use Box.net to store my files but won’t mind shifting to Live Folders. Just don’t want to maintain too many User IDs and Passwords.
Box.net comes with a modest 1GB free storage and is feature rich.

Next thing would be to have a Live folder gadget for Live Spaces.
