Now you can blog in Hindi using blogger

Ever wondered how cool it would be if you could type "Haal kaisa hai janaab ka" in your usual chatting style and the words actually got converted automagically to "हाल कैसा है जनाब का"? Now its possible with the new Blogger transliteration feature. Now you can easily publish your thoughts, experiences and even your favourite Bollywood songs in Hindi:

Enabling the transliteration option allows you to type out Hindi words using phonetically equivalent English script, and see the words getting transformed into the corresponding Devanagari script. The plus is that you now don’t need to learn complicated mappings from English alphabet combinations to Hindi letters. That means you really don’t need to worry about WeiRD UpPerCasEing to get the right Hindi spellings.

To get started, enable Hindi transliteration here (or by going to Settings > Basic). Blogger has a help article explaining how it works, and a thread on the Blogger Help Group to talk about it.

I think, MSN Spaces also should take these kind of initiatives and provide us with good features. Social Networking capabilities of "Friends" module needs to be enhanced and picture quality of album needs to be imroved.
MSN Spaces is becoming stable and better.

This week in tech

I came across nice sites this week which I thought worth mentioning.
The world of blogging has turned 10 and now everyone wants to know who is the father of blogging.
This site
tries to find out.
"Winner is a pioneer of Web syndication techniques and editor of Scripting News, which launched on April 1, 1997.
He boasts on his site that Scripting News "bootstrapped the blogging revolution" and that it is the "longest currently running Web log on the Internet." A decade ago, however, Winner wasn’t actually using the term "Web log," nor does he claim to have invented the term. Winner did not respond to repeated requests for comment from CNET News.com until after this article appeared. He replied in a post claiming "the first blogs were inspired" by Scripting News.."

I had always dreamed my future home as a high-tech home. Where my Microwave  will talk to refrigerator and my wife will browse for new recipes while listening to Internet radio. I’m actually working to put a centralized entertainment system inside my home.
This futuristic home concept is giving me some hope. Check it out.

How many time do we send a mail without actually attaching a document which we intend to attach. And I know all of us maintain at least 4-5 email accounts. Checking all these accounts can be a chore, especially from home. So I use ePrompter (www.eprompter.com), which can check 16 different password-protected accounts. Best of all, ePrompter is free.
More email tips at this site.

Broadband Internet is becoming common even in India. And most of us keep our laptops/PCs connected to Internet for 24×7. I use router at home and very paranoid about the security. I never knew how a wi-fi network can reveal so much about my machine to others.
Don’t miss this article.

And at last, I would mention this handy digital photo guide. Which will help you organize you photos and will provide you with lots of digital photography tips.

Happy surfing.

Ek kahani khatam to duji… shuru ho gayi mamu..

Apartment 28 will be lonely today. There will be no loud music, no late night rounds of beer and no more 50-people-eating-at-one-place stuff..
Hemant has left Buffalo and flied back to India. He will be missed deeply. He is one of those kinds whom you meet for a shorter time but later become a friend for life. We had lots of fun and enjoyed every single day.
With him around, we had every night a Friday night. And don’t ask about the Friday nights.. Whole apartment 28 would rock on the beats of "chham chham karta tera nashila badan..!"

But the music will be played again and there will be more rounds of beer.. because Ajeet has landed last night and replaced Hemant.
He completes our old GLT friend circle which includes him, Vishi, Me and Vaibhav.
The first thing we did after he entered in Idylwoods was, we did our "Samjho ho hi gaya.." dance!
Best part was, he brought our promotion letters with him, so it was a happy moment.

Yes I got promotion. And now I’m a senior software engineer. Sounds nice.. isn’t it?
To celebrate this, Me n vishi had a dinner at an Indian cosine with Rajesh and family.
It turned out to be a  nice evening and a nice get-together. Food was good and so was our discussion.

Good times like these make a stay in foreign land much easier. Idylwoods is now a home away from home.
