Buffalo Diary

AUG.  1 Moved to a new home in  Buffalo. It is so beautiful  here. The
city is so picturesque. Can  hardly wait to see  it covered with snow.
OCT.  14 Buffalo is the most  beautiful place on earth. The  leaves
are turning all different  colors. I love the shades of  red and
orange. Went for a ride through the hills and saw some deer. They are
so graceful. Certainly they are the  most peaceful animals on the
earth. This  must be a paradise. I LOVE IT   HERE.
NOV.  11 Deer season will open soon.  I can’t imagine anyone  wanting
to kill such an elegant creature.  The very symbol of  peace and
tranquility. Hope it will snow   soon. I LOVE IT  HERE.
DEC.  2 It snowed last night. Woke up to find everything  blanketed in
white. It looked like a postcard. Went outside  and cleaned snow
off the steps and shoveled the driveway. We  had a snowball fight
today (I won). When the snowplow came by  we had to shovel the
driveway again. What a beautiful  place. Mother Nature in perfect
 harmony. I  LOVE IT HERE
DEC.   12 More snow last night. I love it. The snowplow did his
trick again that rascal. A winter  wonderland. I LOVE  IT  HERE.
DEC.  19 Snowed again last  night. Couldn’t get out of the driveway
to get to work this time.  I’m exhausted from  shoveling. Damned
DEC.  22 More of that white shit  fell last night. I’ve got  blisters
on my hands from shoveling. I  think the snowplow  hides around the
corner and waits until I’m  done  shoveling. That  A**hole!
DEC.  25 "White Christmas" my busted a**. Mother f—-snow.  If  I
ever got my hands on that son-of-a-b*tch who drives   that snowplow, I
swear I will castrate the dumb bastard.   Don’t know why they don’t
use more salt on this damned   ice.
DEC.  28 More of the same shit last  night. Been inside  since
Christmas day except for when "Snowplow  Harry" comes  by. Can’t go
anywhere. The car is buried in a  mountain of  white sh*t. The
weatherman says expect another 10  inches of  this crap tonight. Do
you know how many shovels full  of  snow
 10 inches  is?
JAN.   1 Happy F–n New Year. The weatherman was wrong  (AGAIN). We
got 34 inches of snow this time. At this rate  it won’t melt  until
the 4th of July. The snowplow got  stuck down the road and  shit for
brains had the balls to come  to the door and ask to  borrow my
shovel. I told him I broke  6 shovels already, shoveling  out the crap
he plowed into  my driveway. I broke the 7th shovel  over his g-d-
JAN.  4 Finally  got out of the house today. Went to the store to  get
food and on  the way back a deer ran out in front of the  car and I
hit it! Did  about $3,000.00 damage to  the car. Wish the hunters
would have  killed them all  last November.
MAY   3 Took the car to the garage in town today. Would you   believe
the body is rotting away from all the g-d- salt they   keep dumping
all over the roads. It really looks like a piece   of crap.
MAY  10 Moved to Florida  today. I can’t imagine why anyone in  their
right mind would want  to live in God forsaken Buffalo,  New York.
SEPT 7 Today  a hurricane came through and destroyed my house and  I
Found my car 3 blocks away, totally destroyed. All of my  stuff is
gone. I guess I should have stayed in Buffalo;  the snow wasn’t  that

Remember your Breath

Active Meditation:

“If you can become master of your breathing you become master of your emotions…. The unconscious goes on changing your rhythm of breathing, so if you become aware of this rhythm and its constant changes, you can become aware of your unconscious roots, of what the unconscious is doing.”
The New Alchemy

a) Breathe deeply the whole day, not forced but slow and deep, whenever you remember, and feel relaxed, not strained.

b) Watch your breathe, observe it. When the breathe goes out, move with it; when it goes in, move with it. If you can observe your breath it will become deep, silent, rhythmic. By following the breath you become very very different, because this constant awareness of the breath will detach you from your mind. The energy that normally moves into thinking will move into observation. This is the alchemy of meditation — to change the energy that moves into thinking into observation…how not to be a thinker but a witness. But be playful about watching your breathing, don’t make it work.

c) Use your breath as an awareness of life and death simultaneously. When the breath goes out it is associated with death; when it comes in, with life. With every out breath you die; with every in breath you are reborn.
“Life and death are not 2 things, separate, divided: they are one. And each moment, both are present. So remember this: when your breath is going out, feel as if you are dying. Don’t be afraid. If you are afraid, the breath will be disturbed. Accept it: the outgoing breath is death. And death is beautiful, it is relaxing.”

harshal in snowThe weather in Buffalo is getting scarier..
Really very scarier.

Yesterday, I was motivated by my enthusiastic boss to go inside the jungle to shoot Deers. I’m an animal lover, and here shooting means shooting with camera.
It was around -18 degree Celsius and it was feeling more chillier due to the snow wind. We tried to follow the foot-prints of Deers and went inside the woods. Inside woods, the snow was 1 feet deep and a small river was completely frozen.

We realized that its not wise to stay longer in such difficult weather condition and decided to head back towards home. I was shivering for next half an hour and was unable to speak properly. It was deadly. I wonder how people climb over Everests and still stay alive.

I managed to watch ‘Guru’ this friday which was being shown exclusively in one of the multiplexes here. It was a nice movie and it was a treat to watch it in foreign land. Abhishek was in full form and the Mani’s direction was powerful. And was delighted to see my all time favorite Mithun Da in an interesting role.

I wanted to blow a whistle on Mithun Da’s entry but was helpless, it was not an Indian theater where people LIVE movies. Though I was surrounded by Indian crowd, I was not one of them. They were still strangers. Almost everyone of them was pretending to be an American born and was talking in English.

The joy of watchin movies in India with friends is unmatched. Earlier in the morning, I was telling one of friend in India that I’m goin to watch Guru tonight, and he said, "So late? Its been more than a month! " in a teasing accent. Then he said, "I’m also going to watch a movie tonight.. Rocky!" And then it was my turn to tease him. Rocky was released here well before a two months 🙂

Life is so changed.
