Windows Live Spaces to be launched in August

Like millions of other fans, I’m waiting anxiously for “Windows Live Spaces” launch.

All the team-mates of Spaces team are tight lipped and Spaces official team blog is also not willing to give more information about the launch.

Earlier this month, beta news spread the rumors that Windows Live Spaces will debut on july 15th, but the day passed without any action.

But yesterday while searching the whole blogsphere, I came across a Japanese site which actually had lots of Windows Live Spaces screenshots.

I couldn’t understand the text, so I tried to translate it using Google translator. From there I learnt that finally Windows Live Spaces is going to be launched in August.

Surprisingly beta news was right and it was scheduled to launch on 15th but it got postponed for the reasons best known to Microsoft guys.

I’ll soon post the screenshots of the spaces, which are already migrated to Windows Live Spaces. Yes, you read it right. Couple of lucky few managed to try their hands on the new version. Watch this space for more details.

What Do Women Really Want?

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur’s youthful happiness. So he offered him freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur, would have a year to figure out the answer. If, after a year, he still had no answer, he would be killed.

The question was: What do women really want? Such a question would have perplexed even the most knowledgeable man, and, to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. Since it was better than death, however, he accepted the monarch’s proposition to have an answer by year’s end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everybody; the princess, the prostitutes, priests, the wise men, and the court jester. In all, he spoke with everyone but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. What most people did tell him was to consult the old witch, as only she would know the answer. The price would be high as the witch was famous for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no alternative but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer his question, but he’d have to accept her price; the old witch wanted to marry Gawain, the most noble of the Knights of the Round table and Arthur’s closest friend! Young Arthur was horrified, she was hunchbacked and awfully hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like a sewer and often made obscene noises. He had never run across such a repugnant creature. He refused to force his friend to marry her and to have to endure such a burden.

Gawain upon learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He told him that nothing was too big a sacrifice compared to Arthur’s life and the preservation of the Round table. Hence, their wedding was proclaimed, and the witch answered Arthur’s question.

What a woman really wants is to be able to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur’s life would be spared. And so it went. The neighboring monarch spared Arthur’s life and granted him total freedom.

What a wedding Gawain and the witch had! Arthur was torn between relief and anguish. Gawain was proper as always, gentle and courteous. The old witch put her worst manners on display. She ate with her hands, belched and farted, and made everyone uncomfortable. The wedding night approached: Gawain, steeling himself for a horrific night, entered the bedroom. What a sight awaited! The most beautiful woman he’d ever seen lay before him! Gawain was astounded and asked what had happened.

The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she’d been a witch, half the time she would be her horrible, deformed self. And the other half, she would be her beautiful maiden self. Which would,he want her to be during the day and which during the night? What a cruel question! Gawain began to think of his predicament.

During the day a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his home, an old spooky witch? Or would he prefer having by day a hideous witch, but by night a beautiful woman to enjoy many intimate moments.

Noble Gawain replied that he would let her choose for herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her and had let her be in charge of her own life.

Microsoft is planning for an iPod killer ?

Brier Dudley from Seattle Times has hinted about MicroSoft’s plans for a new MP3 player with great features like Wi-Fi and internet connectivity. This is what he has to say..
" Microsoft is indeed developing a digital-media player to compete with Apple’s iPod, and there’s much more to the story.

A few details trickled out last week from music companies that Microsoft is lining up to support the device. Microsoft isn’t commenting, but I was able to piece together a broader picture with some research, reporting and information from a source close to the project. What’s being developed is actually a complete line of Xbox-branded digital-media products, including a device that plays media, a software media player and an online media service.

The project, or at least part of it, is referred to internally at Microsoft by the code name Argo — a reference to the huge warship used by the hero Jason in Greek mythology.

Argo is being developed within the Xbox group under the leadership of Xbox co-founder J Allard. His team includes people who previously worked on MSN Music, an online music service that had a promising debut in 2004 but fell victim to Microsoft’s dithering over its music strategy."

Newbie Nerd Alert: How a Packet Moves Through the Internet

Kiltak found this. All data on the Internet–or any network–is divided up into thousands of little chunks that network geeks call packets. Each packet has the piece of data they’re trying to carry as well as destination and routing information it needs to get where it’s going.

Even so, exactly how a packet gets from point A to point B on a network as massive as the Internet is still something of a mystery even to network administrators.

So that’s where this really well done article comes in. Don Parker of Security Focus wrote it as a tutorial showing what happens to a packet on the Internet and how it gets to where it’s going. If you’ve got any interest in how the Internet works, it’s defintely worth a read.

Become Your Own Inner Guide

Meditation of the week

Don’t think with the head. Really, don’t think at all. Just move. Try it is some situations. It will be difficult, because the old habit will be to start thinking. You will have to be alert: not to think, but to feel inwardly what is coming to the mind. You may be confused many times because you will not be able to know whether it is coming from the inner guide or from the surface of the mind. But soon you will know the feeling, the difference.

When something comes from the inner, it comes from your navel upwards. You can feel the flow, the warmth, coming from the navel upwards. Whenever your mind thinks, it is just on the surface, in the head, and then it goes down. If your mind decided something, then you have to force it down. If your inner guide decides, then something bubbles up in you. It comes from the deep core of your being towards the mind. The mind receives it, but it is not of the mind. It comes from beyond ― and that is why the mind is scared about it. For reason it is reliable because it comes from behind ― without any reason with it, without any proofs. It simply bubbles up.

Whenever you are puzzled in a situation and you cannot see how to get out of it, don’t think; just be in a deep non-thinking and allow the inner guide to guide you. In the beginning you will feel afraid, insecure, but soon, when you come every time to the right conclusion, when you come every time to the right door, you will gather courage and you will become trusting.

If this trust happens, I call it faith. This really is religious faith ― the trust in the inner guide. Reasoning is part of the ego. It is you believing in yourself. The moment you go deep within you, you have come to the very soul of the universe. Your inner guide is part of the Divine guidance. When you follow it, you follow the Divine; when you follow yourself, you are complicating things, and you don’t know what you are doing. You may think yourself very wise. You are not.

Wisdom comes from the heart, it is not of the intellect. Wisdom comes from the innermost depth of your being, it is not of the head. Cut your head off, be headless ― and follow the being, whatsoever, where-ever it leads. Even if it leads into danger, go into danger, because that will be the path for you and your growth. Through that danger you will grow and become mature.
