kuch yaadein……….
When gulli-danda and kanche (marbles) were more popular than cricket.
When we always had friends to play aais-paais (I Spy),
chhepan-chhepai and pitthoo anytime …
When we desperately waited for ‘yeh jo hai jindagi’
When chitrahaar,
vikram-baitaal, dada daadi ki kahaniyaan were so fulfilling …
When there was just one tv in every five houses and
When bisleris were not sold in the trains and we were worrying if
papas will get back into the train in time or not when they were
getting down at stations to fill up the water bottle …
When we were going to bed by 9.00pm sharp except for the ‘yeh jo hai
jindagi’ day …
When Holis & Diwalis meant mostly hand-made pakwaans and sweets and
moms seeking our help while preparing them
When Maths teachers were not worried of our mummys and papas while
slapping/beating us …
When we were exchanging comics and stamps and chacha-chaudaris and
billus were our heroes …
When we were in nanihaals every summer and loved flying kites and
plucking and eating unripe mangoes and leechis …
When one movie every Sunday evening on television was more than asked
for and ‘ek do teen chaar’ and ‘Rajni’ inspired us …
When 50 paisa meant at least 10 toffees …
When left over pages of the last years notebooks were used for rough
work or even fair work …
When ‘chelpark’ and ‘natraaj’ were encouraged against ‘reynolds and

When the first rain meant getting drenched and playing in water and
mud and making ‘kaagaj ki kishtis’ …
When there were no phones to tell friends that we will be at their
homes at six in the evening …
When our parents always had 15 paise blue colored ‘antardesis’ and 5
paise machli wale stamps at home
When we remembered tens of jokes and were not finding ‘ice-cream and
papa’ type jokes foolish enough to stop us from laughing …
When we were not seeing patakhes on Diwalis and gulaals on Holis as
air and noise polluting or allergic agents …

the list can be endless …
on the serious note I would like to summarise with …
When we were using our hearts more than our brains, even for
scientifically brainy activities like ‘thinking’ and ‘deciding’ …
When we were crying and laughing more often, more openly and more
sincerily …
When we were enjoying our present more than worrying about our future

When being emotional was not synonymous to being weak When sharing
worries and happinesses didnt mean getting vulnerable to the listener

When blacks and whites were the favourite colors instead of greys …
When journeys also were important and not just the destinations …
When life was a passenger’s sleeper giving enough time and
opportunity to enjoy the sceneries from its open and transparent glass windows
instead of some superfast’s second ac with its curtained, closed and
dark windows …
I really miss .. do u?
Live Life to the Fullest

No mind

 The mind has its limited uses. Use it.
When you are working in your office, I am not telling you to be a no-mind.
When you are working in your shop or in the factory,
I am not saying to be a no-mind.
I am saying be perfectly a mind.
Use the mind but don’t carry it continuously, twenty-four hours, day in and day out, with yourself. Don’t go on dragging it.
Use it as you use a chair.

Send and Receive SMS from PC

Leave a comment

SMS can be send from and receive in PC without the help of Internet.

Nowadays one of the most developed fields in mobile communication technology is SMS (Short Message Service). The Short Message Service (SMS) is the is the technology that allows to send and receive text messages to and from mobile telephones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and personal computers.
SMS is a type of an Instant Messaging (IM) type of communications service and it enables users to exchange messages in real time with other users. Users can use this technology and communicate with each other by typing with a PC, wireless device, cell phone, PDA. They can also use a combination of these devices to communicate. Cell-phone users can use the SMS to send short messages to other cell-phone users. Even retailers can use SMS technology to alert users of important information delivered directly to cell phones. And corporations can use any number of instant-message techniques to communicate directly with customers, vendors and employees. As a convenient and low-cost mobile communication technology, Short Messaging Service (SMS) is experiencing very rapid growth. It is reported that 700 million mobile phone users worldwide sent 20 to 30 billion SMS messages every month in 2001.

The SMS we receive from the mobile phone can be viewed in PC and can send message from PC. To obtain this a mobile phone must be connected to PC running with windows9x. The mobile must be connected to PC by a serial cable or by an USB cable and the PC must be installed with Visual Basic6.0.
The SMS can send and received from the PC by using AT COMMANDS. AT COMMANDS are Attention Commands. With the help of AT COMMANDS the Battery level, Memory, Mobile Identification Number, Serial number, Network Strength can be identified.
By giving AT + CMGL, the messages from the inbox of the mobile phone will be listed.

Also to check whether the mobile phone is connected to PC in correct manner
· Start–> Programs–>Communication–>HyperTerminal
· Go to Connection–>Description. In description, dialog box type name in name textbox and click OK button.
· Select the port in connect to dialog box and click OK button.
· A new window will be opened, in window type AT+CMGL=1 to set flag.
· Then by giving AT + CMGL, it retrieves messages from inbox of the mobile phone.

In Visual Basic6.0, open starndard.exe project. Also, select Microsoft Communication Control6.0 (mscomm control) from Components menu and also arrange textbox and command button as listed in the form

Dim cmd

Private Sub cmdsend_Click ()
cmd = "at+cmgs="""
cmd = cmd & Text1.Text & """, 129"
MS.Output = cmd & Chr(13)
MS.Output = text2.Text & vbCrLf
MsgBox ("SEND")
End Sub

Private Sub cmdview_Click()
On Error Resume Next
MS.PortOpen = True
Text3.Text = ""
MS.Settings = "2400, n, 8, 1"
MS.Output = "at+cmgr=1" & vbCr
buf = MS.Input
Text3.Text = Text1.Text & buf
Loop Until (InStr(Text3.Text, "OK")) > 0 Or (InStr(Text3.Text, "ERROR")) > 0
MS.PortOpen = False
End Sub

Private Sub Form_Load ()
MS.CommPort = 1
MS.PortOpen = True
MS.Settings = "2400, n, 8, 1"
MS.Output = "at+cmgf=1" & vbCr
MS.PortOpen = False
End Sub

By running the VB form, the port 1is assigned when form is load. By clicking the view button we can list the SMS from the inbox of the mobile phone in the textbox present inside view frame, and in send frame by entering the mobile phone number in the textbox provided and type the message in appropriate textbox. Then by clicking the send button, the message will be send to proper mobile number that we entered.
With the help of AT COMMANDS, we can get MobileRevisionNumber, MobileIdentificationNumber, PhoneBookEntry, MemoryStatus, BatteryLevel, SignalStrength, and Message from Inbox, Outbox etc. Thus from this project we can send SMS from and receive SMS in the PC.

This project is tested for Samsung X100 and Samsung C100 mobile phones.

We are Unique

Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior,
but nobody is equal either.
People are simply unique, incomparable.
You are you, I am I.
I have to contribute my potential to life;
you have to contribute your potential to life.
I have to discover my own being;
you have to discover your own being.

Nach Baliye was entertaining.

Finally ‘Nach Baliye’ ended.
I hardly follow any show these days. I’ve not watched more that two-three episodes of Indian Idol, Fame Gurukul or even KBC.
But Nach Baliye was interesting.
I liked the concept and the way they promoted it.

Marathi superstar Sachin and Tu-Tu Mai-Mai fame Supriya was among the favorites from start of the show. Saroj khan, Farahan Akhtar and sexy Malaika Arora were the judges.
And as any other reality show, this show also had lot of drama, rona-dhona and plenty of nach-gaana.

And the final show surprisingly lasted for more that 3 long hours!
There were not less than 15 something performances. But were all great.
The show was really well organized.
It made me n my room parteners glued till late night.

Sachin and Supriya are a charismatic couple. There on-screen chemistry is just fab.
Though Sachin’s steps remind me of old Marathi movies, he was entertaining.

And yes, his hairs are not original 🙂
The show is hit and much much better than pathetic Kam Ya Jyada (presented by even more pathetic Manoj Vajpayee), Deal Ya No Deal and other boring game shows.

But we when were switching between channels during breaks, all we wanted to watch was F.R.I.E.N.D.S!
It a laugh riot.
Still i prefer CNBC and NDTV Profit rather than watching other dumb serials.

Be Real!

Meditation of the week

Always remember, no matter what you are doing, observe whether your center is involved in it or not, because if it is not involved it is better not to do a thing. Don’t do it! No one is forcing you to do anything.

Preserve your energy for the moment when something real happens to you; then do it. Don’t smile, preserve the energy. The smile will come, and then it will change you completely. Then it will be total. Then every cell of your body will smile. Then it will be an explosion ― nothing painted.

Remember this: from the very morning, when you open your eyes, try to be real and authentic. Don’t do anything that is false. Only for seven days, go on remembering. Don’t do anything that is false. Whatsoever is lost, let it be lost. Whatsoever you lose, lose it. But remain real, and within seven days a new life will be felt within you. The dead layers will be broken and a new living current will come to you. You will feel alive again for the first time ― a resurrection.

Do whatsoever you like to do, but think ― really, are you doing it, or is your mother doing it through you or your father doing it through you? Because dead men, dead parents, societies, old generations gone long ago are still functioning within you. They have created such conditionings that you go on fulfilling them ― and they were fulfilling their dead fathers and mothers, and you are fulfilling your dead fathers and mothers, and no one is fulfilled.

Always observe when you do something, whether your father is doing it through you or you are doing it. When you get angry, is it your anger or is it the way your father used to be angry? You are just imitating. I have seen patterns going on, being repeated. If you marry, your marriage is going to be just approximately the same as your father’s and your mother’s. You will act like your father, your wife will act like her mother, and you will create the same mess again. When you get angry, observe: are you there or someone else? When you love, remember, are you there or someone else? When you speak, remember, are you speaking or your teacher?

Leave all falsities. You may feel a certain dullness for a time being, because all your falsities will drop and the real will take time to come and assert itself. There will be a period of a gap. Allow that period, and don’t be afraid and don’t become scared. Sooner or later your false selves will drop, masks will drop, and your real face will come into being.

Atlast my MCM exam was concluded in last week.
It was very hectic and tedious.
Sometimes i wonder if it really worth it?
I’ve been to home for three days.
Mona got his education loan sanctioned and i had to cancel my home loan.
Dad is now planning to build row houses instead of flats.
Thats certainly a good idea.
And after coming back to office, it was a same old story.
Stock market is zooming and i’m making good profit.
Planning to stop it all and concentrate on my work.
Also planning to get SCJP certification.
Lets see how it goes.
